A rare opportunity to visit 7 Chinook Sqn at RAF Odiham was bound to ensure a high level of interest. In the end an exceptional turnout of 18 aircraft and 32 FAA Sqn members attended the Hampshire Air Base. Despite some early murk the weather gods smiled on us to produce a good flying day, allowing everyone to arrive at the allocated time and enjoy a top day out.
We listened to a fascinating and thought provoking briefing on the very specialist roles of 7 Sqn worldwide and the challenges of achieving those commitments with limited resources and a demanding set of training and currency requirements. This was followed by an equally absorbing Intelligence brief, covering the Sqn's role in current and potentially future world hotspots. Not surprisingly these talks provoked a wide ranging set of questions from a rapt audience.
